REMOTE SETUP

GE CL5 setup: match the label before the code.

CL5 identifies a code-list version, not one universal remote model. Record the numeric model too, then follow the matching official instructions.

Before you start

  1. Turn on the device you want the remote to control.
  2. Remove the battery cover. Record the numeric model and the code-list version printed on the sticker, sometimes beneath the batteries.
  3. Continue here only if the version says CL5 and the remote has the buttons used below. If the labels differ, use the exact model manual instead.
Open Jasco’s official code finder ↗

Program a listed code

  1. In Jasco’s finder, choose CL5, the device category and the device brand. Keep the listed four-digit candidates open.
  2. Hold SETUP until the red indicator stays on, then release SETUP.
  3. Press and release the device button, such as TV, DVD or AUD.
  4. Enter the first listed four-digit code. The red indicator should turn off after the fourth digit.
  5. Aim at the device and test the controls below. If only some work, repeat these steps with the next official code for that brand.

If setup stops or the result is partial

  • If the indicator does not stay on, install fresh batteries in the marked direction and start again.
  • If the indicator does not turn off after four digits, stop and confirm both the numeric model and CL5 label before retrying.
  • Power alone is not a complete result. A different listed code for the same brand may support more functions.
  • If this sequence does not match the remote’s buttons, stop and follow its exact model manual. Do not substitute a guessed code.

Test the useful controls

Check power, volume and mute, input/source, channel or playback, and menu/home/arrows/OK where the device supports them. Try the next official code if important controls are missing.

These remotes send infrared commands. Normal IR programming cannot control a streaming stick that accepts only radio or Bluetooth input. Check the device’s own compatibility information before assuming the remote or device is faulty.
